Sneads Ferry, NC
Sneads Ferry NC
A single American flag extends from the front porch and ripples in the soft ocean breeze. A yellow ribbon is tied around the trunk of the large Oak tree in the front yard in support of our troops. The smell of the sea soothes you as you walk through downtown. A picturesque town of original Americana, Sneads Ferry, North Carolina is a representation of simplicity and tradition that has been lost in much of our society.

If you have always dreamed of a quiet, ocean front fishing village, welcome to heaven. Sneads Ferry possesses the old town feel. Back to when everyone knew everyone in town, and residents relied on the local fishing for business and jobs. Every March, a blessing of fleets takes place in order to wish the crewmen safe voyages on their journeys out to sea. Following their return in August, the annual Shrimp Festival takes place with its extensive list of events. Included are the Shrimp Ball, Shrimp Festival Parade, and even a Shrimp Queen that has been previously chosen by a beauty pageant of sorts.
One of the many advantages of Sneads Ferry is its close proximity to the water. No matter which direction you head (except for West, obviously) you are sure to find the sparkling blue Atlantic Ocean at your dispense. Sneads Ferry is just miles from the famed Topsail Island which has multiple beaches. And it’s not only Topsail Island that holds the key to the water, Onslow County also boasts over 30 miles of shoreline along the Atlantic Coast, providing many options for you to soak up the sun to your heart’s content.
Traditional and quaint, Sneads Ferry brings back a feeling of times that have since disappeared. You can choose to attend the annual Shrimp Festival, or catch some rays on the beach. The ease of access to both camp Lejuene and the water are some of the major attractions to this town, but the positive aspects of this fishing village are endless.
